Tom Johnson is now a voting member of the NSF Joint Committee for Food Equipment, and ISO65 standards development organization that develops sanitation and performance standards for food and beverage equipment. This appointment is an outgrowth of NAFEMs request to NSF as part of Toms multi-year consulting agreement with NAFEM in the field of regulatory relations and standard development. Tom made a presentation titled “Food Safety By Design” at the 2003 FCSI conference; check out his presentation on our website.
Johnson
Commercial Agents has been awarded the prestigious Randell Presidents Award. We
are only the 5th recipient of this award in the history of Randell. In fact Tom,
and Paul returned from the Randell National Sales Meeting with a lot of
hardware, including the Presidents Award, and a bunch of Top Volume Sales
Awards to boot. We would like to thank Randell for giving us such a great
manufacturer to work with.
Congratulations
to
for
being awarded the WCCO Radio "Good Neighbor" Award (click here for on
air broadcast). Tom was nominated for this award because of the outstanding
work he has done on the Board of Directors for the Emergency
Foodshelf Network, and assisting the Kids Cafe project which aims to offer
good nutrition to all local children. As part of this broadcast they mentioned
that Tom was the recipient of last years MAFSI
pacesetter award as well.
The JCA
Staff is now ServSafe®
certified! In fact, Tom Johnson has been putting on ServSafe®
seminars for years now, and now all of our Sales team has scored 95% or better
on the ServSafe® exam, making us eligible as trainers of food
safety!
This news will be no
surprise to our current trading partners, but Johnson Commercial Agents has just
received MAFSI Technology
Certification (MTC) for Level
401, Expert Level.
MAFSI has developed a program that sets the standard in how the industry can
communicate and work together seamlessly. MAFSI's Technology Certification
Program provides a roadmap specific to technological applications such as
computer hardware, software applications and communication products. The bottom
line is that JCA has had all of the technology tools in place for years, so we
have immediately reached the highest level of technology certification for
manufacturers agents.
We are very
excited to announce that we have taken on a number of new lines.
Turbochef is defining a whole new product category in foodservice equipment. TurboChef Rapid Cooking technology offers incredible quality at incredible speeds, without ventilation. If you haven't heard of TurboChef yet, you will soon!
Spring - Have you seen the Convertable Buffet system from Spring yet? What an incredible way to add flexibility to any buffet operation. Their complete line of chafers covers the gambit from canned heat, electric, and induction based heating, so we can fit you design need. And for the coup de gras, check out their chocolate fountain.
We have
several new exciting products to share with you.
Randells radical refrigeration series the FX now come in a 2N1 mode, which can operate at refrigerator or freezer temps at the press of a button; a 4N1 that can do all the 2N1 can do, and it can act as a Blast Chiller or a Thaw box as well. The FX now come in the original height units, and the new thin series which enables a double stack of drawers while maintaining traditional worktop heights.
Avtecs new EcoArch is a huge leap forward in optimized exhaust systems. This elegant hood design can reduce exhaust rates ( and thus Make-Up requirements) by up to 40% over traditional hood systems.
To add to
the momentum gained by the now popular
Server Express condiment dispensers from Server
Products, we are proud to introduce the Server
Advantage HOT
condiment Dispenser using the same technology as the Server Express. For
those more traditional Server product users who use our fountain jars, we have
introduced a new Transparent
Hinged Lid that is both cost competitive and very functional
Perlick has
a new addition to its Century Beer System product family. The new Perlick Beer
Pumps, in conjunction with the Perlick
Smart Coupler can dramatically decrease the Total Cost of Ownership on most
remote beer system configurations, and at the same time maintain the highest
quality of beer to the taps.
Check out Wells
new line of high
capacity fryers. One of our inside sales staff has been heavily involved in
fryer programs for retail outlets in his prior life, and he could not believe
the capacity of the new Wells line. He also mentioned that the cost was
significantly less than the competition. Finally, he said the quality of the end
product, and the auto-lift features made this line unbeatable.
Montague
has its HX-63 series convection ovens are winning over the hearts of all of
the school foodservice people who have had the pleasure of working with them.
Not only do these ovens offer remarkably even heating, but the double stack
units have an overall height of only 71", so even the shortest cooks can
use the full oven capacity without having to lift hot food pans dangerously over
their heads. And Montague has the new Apollo oven as seen (and sold) at the 2001
UP Show. We dare you to compare features and price on this baby.
To take advantage of our ventilation expertise, and our interest in being a valued part of the design chain for food service projects, Johnson Commercial has purchased a complete version on AutoCad 2006. We have done solids modelling, custom ventilation design, as well as the usual bar and kitchen layout support that we are know for.
For our
dealer community, we are fully functional and dangerous on AutoQuotes.
If you are using Autoquotes on your end, we would be glad to send you any of our
quotes electronically, which will save you a ton of time in data entry. We also
have our AutoQuotes integrated in with our KCL
library, so when we help you with a bar layout, or a kitchen layout, we can
often times generate the quote right from the drawing, and vice-versa.
Speaking of
layout, did you know that JCA now has a wide format plotter, and HP
5000PS? That's right, now our factories don't have to rush Next Day Air
drawings to our consultant partners, rather they send us the drawings
electronically, and we plot them out. This saves the factories money, and gives
our spec partners the information they need, when they need it. It can also do
wide format high res color plottings, so our multi-media capabilities are clear.
OK, so many
of our factories don't need wide format plotters, well we also have an HP
8550DN color laser printer that can do publisher quality prints, so when we
put out a marketing piece, it looks great.
We are the
proud parents of New HP Proliant Server which is in addition to our existing
Arista Telephony Server with 18G of RAID 5 hot swap hard drives, redundant hot
swap power supplies, and the latest telephony software, and telephony hardware
from Altigen. The main server enables VPN with the Microsoft Exchange
Server enabling everyone to have ready access to email, shared calendar’s note
and full remote access to our many servers, all behind a robust and effective
firewall. The telephony system
consists of 8 lines coming in and 12 extensions coming out. All of the actual
phones are just low cost analog phones from an electronics catalog. The inside
sales staff is equipped with wireless phones and headsets for complete mobility.
You may be wondering how one can get telephone system functions out of analog
phones. This phone system has a web based user interface, so we just open up a
web page that basically controls the phone system . Right from our web browser,
we can see who is on another line, transfer calls, and do all sorts of other fun
stuff. With some slight upgrades we will be able to take phone calls right from
the web. Our state of the art phone system is one big reason why we can handle
and average of 250 calls per day.
If you have
sent us a fax recently, you probably weren't aware that we threw out our fax
machine. All calls to our fax number go into a computer where the electronic
image is stored. The fax is then redirected to where it needs to go. For
instance, PO's from dealers are electronically stamped by JCA, then sent to the
appropriate manager. The electronic fax is then stored in our email system. From
there the account manager, or anyone on the network can review the PO. Other
correspondences are stored in a similar fashion.
We are now
starting to scan in select manufacturers paper invoices to extract critical
information that we need to populate our transactions database. By automating
the data entry associated with this data, we are able to spend more of our time
and energy on marketing.
